about me

Sixty years in Lawrence has given me a special feeling for our city. Some of the business structures have remained basically unchanged since I was young, while most have reincarnated many times. Some are new to the scene. The sameness and the change fascinate me.

I enjoy riding my vintage motorcycle or driving my antique car through town looking for interesting views of what I consider iconic locations. I’m a fan of Edward Hopper but I hope my emotional attachment to Lawrence is conveyed in the scenes and people I choose to paint.

I studied drawing and painting at the University of Kansas in the mid- to late-sixties. At the time, abstract expressionism was the focus. My work didn’t necessarily fit the mold. Now, I feel free to pursue my own methods and style.
